What is it?
The Citations screen lists the sources that AI answers link to. AI Visibility is the LLM Tool in your Prism sidebar. A citation is a web page that an AI answer shows as a source. This screen tells you which domains and pages get cited, for which prompts and on which platform.
Why use it?
- To see which websites AI tools trust in your market.
- To check if your own pages are cited.
- To find social sites and forums that shape AI answers.
- To export a list of cited pages for your outreach team.
Before you start
You need an LLM project with answers for the date you pick. The Total Pages Cited card on the Overview also opens this screen.
How to use it
Open Citations
In the sidebar, open LLM Tool, then click Citations.
Pick a brand
Next to Filter by:, click All or a brand pill. Your brand shows (You).
Read the tables
Start with Top Domains, then look at Detailed Citations.
Export
Click Export on a table to download it.

Understanding the data
Citations
Web pages that an AI answer lists as its sources.
Appears in: LLM Tool → Citations
Percentage is the domain's citation count as a share of all citations for your filters.
Example
For example, Top Domains shows a review site with 80 citations, which is 20% of all citations. Your own domain has 12. You search Detailed Citations for that review site and see it is cited for your "best tools" prompts. Getting your brand listed on that review site could help those answers.
Tips
- Pick your own brand pill to see only citations linked to you.
- Use the platform filter to find which platform cites you most.
- See Ranking and AI exports for how exports work.
Common issues
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| No citation data available. | Pick another date or click Reset. |
| No domain citations found. | Clear the domain search or change the brand pill. |
| No citations found for the selected filters. | Clear the prompt search or widen your filters. |
Frequently asked questions
When do I see the Top Social Sources table?
Only when the All brand pill is selected. Pick a single brand and the table is hidden.
What happens when I click a citation count?
In Top Social Sources, clicking a count filters the Detailed Citations table to that source.
Nothing downloaded when I clicked Export. Why?
The file is made on the server and opens in a new tab. Allow pop-ups for Prism. If the export fails, no message is shown, so try again.
