Where to find it in Prism:Bing Rankings

What is it?

The Bing Rankings screen tracks where your keywords rank on Bing. It works like Google SERP, with two tabs: Overview and Keywords.

Why use it?

  • To see how your Bing rankings change over time.
  • To catch keywords that dropped or were lost on Bing.
  • To compare your Bing results with your Google results.

Before you start

You need a Bing tracking project with keywords. An admin sets it up in Project settings. See Keywords and prompt files for the keyword file.

How to use it

  1. Open Bing Rankings

In the sidebar, click Bing Rankings.

  2. Set the filter bar

Pick your project, then Select Brand, Category and Sub Category if needed.

  3. Pick dates

Choose a Start Date and an End Date. Only dates with data can be picked.

  4. Read Overview, then Keywords

Check the KPI cards and charts, then open Keywords for each keyword.

Understanding the screen

Overview tab

The chip Comparing (previous date) → (end date) shows the two dates the cards compare. The KPI cards have the same hover text as Google:

CardHover text
All KeywordsTotal keywords tracked on the selected date.
Without ChangesKeywords whose ranking stayed the same.
DroppedKeywords whose rankings went lower.
LostKeywords no longer appearing in search results.
ImprovedKeywords whose rankings became better.
New KeywordsKeywords that started ranking on the selected date.
Average PositionThe average search ranking position of all ranking keywords.

Ranking Trend shows keywords in Top 1, Top 2-3, Top 4-5, Top 6-10 and > 10.

Group Wise Ranking shows the keyword count in each rank group for each date. Use its Excel download to save bing-group-wise-ranking-{project}.xlsx.

Keywords tab

Columns: Keyword, Position, Trend. Click a row to expand the SERP Preview, which shows the Ranking URL:. Click Export for the keyword list, or Opportunity for the opportunity file.

Understanding the data

Average position

Your average place in Google results. Position 1 is the top result, so lower is better. Prism weights the average by impressions, so queries that are seen more count more.

Example: A page at position 3 for a query with 1,000 impressions counts ten times more than position 20 for a query with 100.

Appears in: Analytics, Advanced Analytics

A lower position number is better. Position 1 is the top result.

Example

For example, your All Keywords card shows 120. Improved is 18 and Lost is 3. In Group Wise Ranking, the Top 1 group grew from 10 to 14 keywords over the month. You open Keywords, expand a lost keyword, and check its Ranking URL: on earlier dates.

Tips

  • Check the same keywords on Google SERP. Big gaps between the two can point to page issues.
  • Download Opportunity to plan which keywords to work on.
