Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

Fix Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 connection errors, Needs attention cards and Can't reach server.

Prism reads your data from Google with read-only access. When you click a connect button, Google asks you to sign in and allow access. Then Prism asks you to pick a property or site. Most connection problems happen in one of these steps.

Connection messages

The first table lists the messages you may see while connecting. Errors appear under the heading "Connection failed", with a button that takes you back to Prism.

The card says "Needs attention"

Why it happens: The last sync failed, or Google access was removed or expired. For example, someone removed Prism in their Google account, or the Google account lost access to the property. The card shows the error, or "The last sync failed. Reauthenticate to restore the connection."

How to fix it:

  1. Open SystemIntegrations & MCP.
  2. On the card with ⚠ Needs attention, click Reauthenticate.
  3. Sign in with a Google account that still has access to the property or site.
  4. Pick the same property or site and finish the steps.

Reconnecting clears the error.

What to check next: if you want to use a different property, click Disconnect, then connect again. See Reconnect or disconnect.

The card says "Can't reach server"

Why it happens: Your browser could not reach Prism's server to check the connection status. The card shows ⚠ Can't reach server and "Couldn't reach the backend to check connection status".

How to fix it:

  1. Check your internet connection.
  2. Refresh the page.
  3. If you are on a company network or VPN, try again without it, or ask your IT team.

What to check next: if it lasts more than a few minutes, email support@techmagnate.com.

The Analytics screen says "Not connected"

Why it happens: No property or site is connected for this source in the current project.

How to fix it:

  1. Check that the right project is selected in Current Project.
  2. On the Analytics screen, click Connect on the card, or click Property settings.
  3. Follow the steps for Google Search Console or Google Analytics 4.

What to check next: if the card shows Needs attention instead, use Reauthenticate as described above.

I want to remove Prism's access

Why it happens: You may want to stop Prism reading your data.

How to fix it:

  1. In Prism, click Disconnect on the card.
  2. You can also remove access in your Google Account under Security, third-party access: Google Account permissions.

What to check next: read Permissions and privacy.

Frequently asked questions

What does Needs attention mean?

The last sync failed, or Google access was removed or expired. Click Reauthenticate on the card to restore the connection.

Why does Prism say no GA4 properties were found?

The Google account you signed in with has no access to a GA4 property. Sign in with an account that has access, or ask the property owner to add you.

Can Prism change my Google data?

No. Prism asks only for read-only access to Analytics and Search Console, plus your Google email.
