Reading an AI Answer
Understand the answer pop-up: header chips, fan-out queries, brand highlights, the platform list, the response and its citations.

What is it?
The answer pop-up shows the full answer an AI platform gave to one of your prompts. AI Visibility is the LLM Tool in your Prism sidebar. You open the pop-up with View Answer or View on screens such as Overview, Brand Visibility and Responses.
Why use it?
- To read exactly what the AI said about you and your competitors.
- To see which pages the answer cited.
- To compare the same prompt across platforms.
How to use it
Open an answer
Click View Answer or View on a table row.
Read the header
Check the date, category and the numbers in the header chips.
Pick a platform
Click a platform in the list on the left. The response loads on the right.
Check the citations
Scroll to Citations below the response.
Understanding the screen
Header chips
| Chip | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Date | The date the answer was collected. |
| Category | The prompt's category. |
| Sub-category | The prompt's sub-category. |
| % visibility | Visibility for this prompt. |
| mentions | How many times brands were mentioned. |
| avg rank | The average answer rank. |
| Rank | The rank in this answer. |
| Fan-out queries (N) | The fan-out queries linked to this answer. |
Highlights
Highlights: shows a chip for each brand found in the answer. Your brand is tagged YOU.
Platform list and response
The platforms are listed on the left. The rendered response for the selected platform is on the right.
Citations
The Citations list below the response shows the pages the answer used as sources.
Understanding the data
Answer rank
Where a brand appears inside an AI answer — Rank 1 is the first brand named. “Not Ranked” means the brand does not appear.
Appears in: LLM Tool → Brand Visibility
Mentions
How many times a brand is named across the AI answers for your tracked prompts.

Example
For example, you open the answer for "best project management tool for agencies". The header shows Rank 3 and Fan-out queries (4). Highlights: shows three brands, with yours tagged YOU. On ChatGPT you are named third. The Citations list shows two review sites but none of your pages. Getting on those review sites could move you up.
Tips
- Switch platforms in the list to see how answers differ for the same prompt.
- Compare Citations with the Citations screen to see the big picture.
Common issues

| Fetching response from (platform name) … and This may take a moment… | The answer is loading. Wait a few seconds. |
| No content available for this platform. | No saved answer for that platform. Pick another one. |
| No platforms | This prompt has no platform answers for the date. Pick another date in the filter bar. |

The Fan-out queries chip shows the number of fan-out queries linked to that answer, in brackets.
Which brand is mine in the Highlights row?
Your brand chip is tagged YOU.
Why does the pop-up say No content available for this platform?
Prism has no saved answer from that platform for this prompt and date. Pick another platform in the list on the left.
