What is it?

The prompt generator writes your AI Visibility prompts for you. It reads your website, writes a short description of your brand, suggests competitors and topics, and then drafts prompts. Each prompt gets a category (its topic) and a sub-category (its search intent). You review and edit everything before it is saved.

You can open it in two places in the Client panel:

  • Project settings → LLM Tool, in the project form. Under Prompts File, choose ✦ Generate with AI.
  • Keyword Setting → LLM Tool. Click Add Keyword, then Generate with AI.

Why use it?

  • To set up a new LLM project quickly, without writing an Excel file.
  • To get prompts that match how buyers ask AI tools about your market.
  • To add a fresh batch of prompts for new topics.

Before you start

  • You must be a project admin or owner.
  • Your Prism project needs AI prompt credits. Each generated prompt uses one credit.
  • For the best results, pick the Country in the project form first. Prompts are written for that market.

How to use it

  1. Choose how many prompts

Under How many prompts?, click 10, 25, 50 or 100, or Custom to type a number. The note below shows your credits, for example 150 of 200 AI prompt credits left · 1 credit per prompt generated.

  2. Start the generator

Click Start generating N prompts in the project form, or Start · N prompts in Keyword Setting. The Prompt generator opens full screen.

  3. Step 1 — Your brand

Enter your Brand URL. The Brand name is optional; Prism can detect it. Click Next. Prism reads your website.

  4. Step 2 — Add company details

Check the brand name and the Description. Edit it, or click ↻ Regenerate. Set the intent mix under What kind of prompts? and add Custom instructions if you like. Click Next.

  5. Step 3 — Review competitors

Tick up to three competitors. Click ✦ Suggest competitors or ✦ Suggest more for ideas, or add a domain yourself. Click Next.

  6. Step 4 — Review topics

Tick up to 10 topics. Edit, remove or add your own with Add topic. Click Generate N prompts.

  7. Step 5 — Review prompts

Read the prompts under each topic. Edit, untick or remove any of them, or add your own. Click Looks good (project form), or Add prompts / Replace prompts (Keyword Setting).

On the right of the screen, a Preview shows what will be tracked as you go. Use Back to return to an earlier step, and Close to leave.

Understanding the screen

Step 1 — Your brand

"Tell us which brand to track. We’ll read its website to get started." If you set a country in the project form, you see "Market: (country) — prompts will be written for this market."

Step 2 — Add company details

  • Description (editable) — what Prism learned about your brand. Click ↻ Regenerate for a new version.
  • What kind of prompts? — tick the search intents you want and give each a %. The total must be 100%. Click Split evenly to share it out. The line below shows, for example, Total 100% ✓ or Total 90% — add 10%.
  • Custom instructions (optional) — tell Prism what to focus on or avoid, up to 1,500 characters. It is "Used when generating topics and prompts".
IntentMeaningDefault share
InformationalLearning & research — what, how, why40%
CommercialComparing options — best, top, reviews30%
NavigationalLooking for a specific brand or site10%
TransactionalReady to act — hire, buy, pricing, sign up20%

Step 3 — Review competitors

Competitors already on your project are ticked and tagged project. Suggested competitors are added unticked. The counter shows, for example, 2/3 selected. Click a name or domain to edit it, or × to remove it. Only ticked competitors are saved to the project.

Step 4 — Review topics

Prism suggests topics and ticks the first five. The counter shows, for example, 5/10. A note shows how many prompts will be spread across the topics, and how many credits generating will use.

Step 5 — Review prompts

"Don’t worry about getting these perfect. You can add, edit or remove prompts any time from Keyword Setting."

  • Prompts by topic — one group per topic, with a count such as 5/5. Tick the group box to select or clear all its prompts.
  • Each prompt shows its Category and Intent. Click the text or the category to edit it. Pick a new intent from the list.
  • Click + Add prompt to this topic to write your own. Type it and press Enter.
  • Chips above the list count the selected prompts per intent.
  • ↻ Regenerate writes the prompts again. This uses credits again.

In Keyword Setting, you also choose How should these be saved?:

  • Add to existing prompts — "New prompts are added; the existing ones stay as they are."
  • Replace all prompts — "Only these prompts stay active — the others are marked inactive (not deleted)."

Back in the project form

After Looks good, the form shows N prompts ready with your topics and the first prompts. From here you can:

  • Click Review & edit to reopen the generator where you left off.
  • Click Export Excel to download the prompts as an Excel file.
  • Click Discard to throw them away.
  • Click View all N prompts to see the full list.

The prompts are saved as the project's prompts file when you click ✓ Create Project or ✓ Save changes. When editing a project, they replace the current prompts; the others are marked inactive, not deleted. The competitors you ticked fill the Competitor Intelligence rows.

Understanding the data

  • Category = the topic. This is what Prompt Clusters groups by.
  • SubCategory = the intent: Informational, Commercial, Navigational or Transactional. You can filter by it with All SubCategories in the filter bar.
  • Credits: 1 credit = 1 prompt written. Credits are used each time Prism writes prompts, including regenerating.

Example

For example, you have 150 credits left. You pick 50 prompts and start. Prism reads acme.com and writes a description. You keep the default intent mix and add the instruction "Focus on small businesses". You tick two suggested competitors, keep five topics, and click Generate 50 prompts. That uses 50 credits. You untick three prompts that do not fit and click Looks good. 47 prompts are saved when you create the project.

Tips

  • Edit the description before moving on. Better facts give better topics and prompts.
  • Use custom instructions to steer the prompts, for example to a customer type or region.
  • Export the prompts to Excel to keep a copy or share it with your team.

Frequently asked questions

What are AI prompt credits?

Each prompt the generator writes uses one credit. Your Prism project has a set number of credits. The screen shows how many are left, for example 150 of 200 AI prompt credits left.

Does regenerating prompts use more credits?

Yes. Every time Prism writes prompts, it uses one credit per prompt, even if you regenerate the same topics.

How many prompts can I generate at once?

Between 1 and 100, and never more than the credits you have left. Pick 10, 25, 50 or 100, or click Custom.

Can I edit the prompts before they are saved?

Yes. You can edit, add, remove or untick any prompt, and change its category and intent, before you save.

Will generating prompts delete my old prompts?

No. Prompts are never deleted. If you replace your prompts, the old ones are marked inactive.
