Set Up an LLM Project
Create or edit the LLM project behind AI Visibility: brand, competitors, AI platforms, run frequency (including Once) and prompts.
6 min read Updated
What is it?
An LLM project tells Prism what to check in AI answers. It holds your brand, your competitors, the AI platforms to ask, how often to run, and the list of prompts. All AI Intelligence screens report on one LLM project at a time.
You create and edit LLM projects in the Client panel, on the LLM Tool tab of Project settings.
Why use it?
- To start tracking your brand in AI answers.
- To add or change the competitors you compare against.
- To choose which AI platforms Prism asks.
- To change how often Prism runs your prompts.
- To replace or add prompts.
Before you start
- You must be a project admin or owner. See Roles and permissions.
- Have a prompts Excel file ready, or plan to use Generate with AI.

Understanding the screen
The form has five numbered sections.
01 Project & Brand
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Project Name | A name you will recognise, such as "Axis Bank Q3". |
| Brand Name | Your brand as AI answers would write it. Prism looks for this name in each answer. |
| Brand Domain | Your website, such as axisbank.com. Prism uses it to spot your own pages in citations. A logo shows next to it once Prism finds one. |
| Brand Aliases | Other names your brand goes by. Use + to add a row and ✕ to remove one. |
02 Targeting
- Language, Country and Location set the market Prism asks about. Pick the location from the suggestions list.
- Sync Frequency sets how often Prism runs your prompts. See Run frequency below.
03 LLM Platforms
"Which models to check for brand visibility — select at least one". Click a platform to turn it on or off. The platforms you can pick come from what is set up for your Prism project. Prism supports ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overview, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity.
04 Competitor Intelligence
"Brands to track alongside this project (optional)". There are three rows, each with Competitor Brand Name and Domain. Leave a row empty if you do not need it.
05 Prompts File
"Upload an Excel sheet (Prompts, Category, SubCategory) or generate prompts with AI".
- Upload Excel — click the upload box and pick an .xlsx or .xls file. Click Download sample file if you are not sure of the format. The headers are explained in Keywords and prompt files.
- ✦ Generate with AI — Prism drafts prompts from your website. See Generate prompts with AI.
When you edit a project, this section shows how many prompts are uploaded, for example 120 prompts currently uploaded, and a Download current file link. Leave the upload box empty to keep your current prompts.
Run frequency
The Sync Frequency list shows only the choices set up for your Prism project. These can include:
| Frequency | What happens |
|---|---|
| Daily | Prism runs your prompts every day. |
| Weekly | Prism runs your prompts once a week. |
| Monthly | Prism runs your prompts once a month. |
| Once | Prism runs your prompts one time, right after you create the project. It does not repeat. |
For Weekly and Monthly, the form shows the default slot, for example "Default: Every Monday at 15:00 IST." Tick Advanced schedule to choose your own:
- Weekly — pick a Day of week and a Time (IST).
- Monthly — pick a Day of month from 1 to 28. The time stays the default. Days 29–31 are not offered so that every month gets a run.
When you view a project, the frequency shows as Tracking Frequency. Learn more in Data sync schedule.
Understanding the data
- Prism asks every active prompt on every ticked platform. Each prompt on each platform is one answer.
- Your competitors appear on every AI Intelligence screen, such as Competitors.
- When you upload a new prompts file, old prompts are never deleted. Prompts in the new file are active; prompts missing from it are marked inactive.
Example
For example, you create a project called "Acme India". You enter Brand Name Acme and Brand Domain acme.com, and add the alias "Acme Tools". You pick English, India and a city, and set Sync Frequency to Weekly. You tick ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, add two competitors, and upload a file with 50 prompts. Each week, Prism collects 50 × 3 = 150 answers.
Tips
- Use the brand name exactly as customers and AI tools write it. Add short names as aliases.
- Pick Once for a quick one-off check, and a repeating frequency to track change over time.
- Keep prompt categories short and consistent so Prompt Clusters is easy to read.

Frequently asked questions
Who can create or edit an LLM project?
Project admins and owners. They do it in the Client panel. Viewers cannot open the Client panel.
How many competitors can I track?
Up to three. The Competitor Intelligence section has three rows for a brand name and a domain.
What does the Once frequency do?
Prism runs your prompts one time, right after the project is created. It does not repeat, so the reports have a single date and no trend.
Why can't I pick a frequency or a platform?
The choices come from what is set up for your Prism project. If none are set up, the form says so. Ask your admin.
What happens to my old prompts when I upload a new file?
They are not deleted. The prompts in the new file become active and the others are marked inactive.
